Helaman Halls is for full-time day continuing students at Brigham Young University.
A full-time day continuing student is a student taking at least 9 credit hours as undergraduate students or 2 credits as graduate students.
During Spring and Summer Terms the credit requirement is 4 credits for undergraduate students and 2 credits for graduate students.
Buildings and floors are available for students eligible for Single Housing.
Floors are available for those who turned 19 prior to January 1, 2025 and returning tenants who have lived on-campus during the Fall and/or Winter semester of a previous academic year.
Shared suites are only available during Fall and Winter Semesters.
Shared suites are available at David John Hall.
Outside of David John Hall, each building in Helaman Halls offers two suites in the mezzanine of each building, where a lobby is provided for quiet study or social gathering.
The shared suite is furnished with a bed, desk, chair and closet for each student.
A mini fridge allows students to store perishable items.
Beds may be raised on provided bed legs allowing extra storage.
The shared suite has a bathroom that links two bedrooms together, allowing tenants to share a bathroom among four people instead of 30.
The bathrooms provide a separate counter/sink area, allowing tenants to still access the mirror and sink if the shower is occupied.
There is ample storage in the bathroom for the toiletries of all four students.
The Cannon Commons, centrally located within Helaman Halls, provides for a tenant's nutritional needs with an all-you-care-to-eat dining room, a creamery, and a grill.
Tenants of Helaman Halls are required to purchase a full meal plan to cover their expenses at the Cannon Commons.
Laundry facilities are available in each hall.
A discounted rate is provided when paying with Cougar Cash.
A basement kitchenette with a stove, sink, and oven is available in the basement of each hall (except in Building 9).
Potential tenants should note that this kitchenette is shared by all tenants in the hall and is incapable of accommodating a tenant's every day needs. Tenants of Helaman Halls should rely on their meal plans for dietary needs, not the kitchenette.
Tenants are welcome to use their Dining Dollars at the BYU Creamery next to Helaman Halls and at all other dining locations (excepting Campus Floral and concessions).
A lounge with a large television is accessible at the Cannon Center for tenants’ use.
Facilities include sand volleyball courts, basketball courts, and large lawn areas.
Rental payments include all utilities, wireless internet access, and Residence Life activities.
For internet access, tenants provide their own compatible wireless router and connect it to a BYU network data jack in their room.
